In early October, El Mercado Fresco food store held their grand opening of its newest location at 7405 Quivira Rd. in Shawnee, Kansas. The surrounding communities were invited to join El Mercado Fresco for an afternoon of celebration featuring giveaways, a live DJ, mariachi music, and more. As a special grand-opening promotion, the first 50 customers received a $20 El Mercado Fresco gift card. Hundreds of food shoppers were on hand to celebrate the new Latino food store and all that the store offers when it comes to food products.
At approximately 60,000 square feet, the new Shawnee location is one of the largest grocery stores in the Kansas City metropolitan area and represents a significant investment in the Shawnee community.
El Mercado Fresco offers customers a wide selection of products through partnerships with local and international suppliers, including fresh produce, premium meats, seafood, freshly baked goods, and a diverse selection of Hispanic and international foods.
The new Shawnee location continues El Mercado Fresco and World Fresh Market’s commitment to expanding access to fresh, affordable, high-quality, and culturally diverse food options while creating jobs and investing in the communities it serves.

After the grand opening ceremony 100’s of shoppers enter the store to shop for their favorite food and meats and of course for fresh fruits and vegetables. Many of the customers and those who live nearby were happy to see El Mercado Fresco in their neighborhood because now they can shop for their Latino foods right in their own community.
El Mercado Fresco is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
