Folklore event, grant program shines spotlight on small businesses





10 grants of $10K each to be awarded to successful applicants



In recent years, Hispanic Heritage Month in Kansas City has come to be synonymous with the support of small, Latino-owned businesses. Now, for the fourth year in a row, the annual Folklore event has once again brought Latino music, arts and crafts, and food to the forefront – all while lifting up local businesses with a monetary grant to help them grow.

Chanute Fiesta is still going strong at 108 years old





Family value, tradition and culture is what make Chanute Fiesta successful



Two weeks ago in a small town south of Kansas City with a population of nearly 9,000 a celebration of the 108th Chanute Kansas Mexican Fiesta was in full swing during Hispanic Heritage month. It’s one of the oldest fiestas in the state of Kansas and the organizers are keeping the Chanute fiesta alive for years to come.

The Kansa City Chiefs faced the highly touted Baltimore Ravens on a warm Sunday afternoon at GEHA stadium. There was nothing on the line and everything on the line. The tone of the pundit conversation was basically this game was more important to the Chiefs than it was to the Ravens, due to the improved teams that make up the western division.

Se otorgarán 10 subvenciones de $10,000 cada una a los solicitantes seleccionados



En los últimos años, el Mes de la Herencia Hispana en Kansas City se ha convertido en sinónimo del apoyo a las pequeñas empresas de propiedad latina. Ahora, por cuarto año consecutivo, el evento anual Folklore ha vuelto a poner en primer plano la música, las artes, la artesanía y la gastronomía latina, a la vez que impulsa el crecimiento de los negocios locales con una subvención económica.
